Born in Bridgeton on May 6, 1937 he was the son of the late Edwin J. Schofield, II and Jane Mulford Schofield. He was the loving husband of the late Barbara King Schofield who passed away on the same date in 2007. He was a resident of Greenwich for the past 53 years and had lived in Elmer prior to that.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Schofield had been employed with the Bridgeton Evening News for many years. Following his career with the newspaper he began working for Cumberland County, first in the operation of the CATS transportation system and then later as an Assistant Administrator at Cumberland Manor.
One of his fondest memories was his time of service to his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1959 and then serving in the Air Force Reserve until his honorable discharge in 1962, receiving the Good Conduct Medal for his service.
He had previously been active with the West Cumberland Little League, Bridgeton Rotary, Kiwanis and Jaycees organizations and with the Greenwich School Board. He was also active in the planning and celebration of the Greenwich Bicentennial in 1974. Ed loved his family and time spent at Sea Isle City and enjoyed muskrat dinners at Hancock's Bridge, his Oldsmobiles and pet dogs.
He was a devoted father to Vicki Bittner (Bruce) of Vineland, Debra Redmond (Neal) of Madison, AL, Norman Robinson of Monroeville, Terri Bennett (Gary) of Upper Deerfield Twp., the late Edwin M.
