Obituary of Thomas J. McCargo

Thomas J. McCargo, 56, of Vineland died Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia. The husband of Emma Harris McCargo, he was born in Saxton, VA to the late Joe D. Elam and Ruby M. McCargo. He had been a Vineland resident for 30 years coming to the area from New Castle, DE. He was a veteran and served his country in the United States Army. Mr. McCargo had previously been employed as the manager of the Vineland Rent A Center for many years. An avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, he enjoyed painting, playing pool and spending time with his “best friend”, his grandson, Xavier Tompkins. In addition to his wife and grandson, he is survived by his three children, Crystal Tompkins (Daniel) of Bridgeton, Donte J. McCargo and Thomas J. McCargo, Jr., both of Vineland; a sister, Bonita J. Elam of DE and two brothers, Joe Dodd Elam of GA and Maurice McCargo of DE. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Twp.
