Ernest F. Parker, 91, of Downe Township died on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at home under the care of hospice. Born in Ashville, NC to the late Charles Parker and Josephine White Parker, he was the husband of Melba Wilson Parker. Ernest had been a Downe Township resident for the past 43 years and prior to that he had lived in Millville. Before his retirement, he had been a self-employed carpenter his entire working life. In his free time, he enjoyed farming and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had been married to his wife, Melba for 69 years this past June. Besides his wife Melba, he is survived by nine children, Judy Franklin of Dividing Creek, Brenda Franklin of Laurel Lake, Joe Parker of TX, Sandra Parker of Downe Twp., Josh Parker of FL, Heather Boswell-Parker of Elmer, Jimmy Sparks of AR, Brian Parker of Millville and Ashley Parker-Franklin of Laurel Lake; a sister, Thelma Hughes of NC; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Danny and Matt Parker and three brothers, Clarence, Rosco and Raymond Parker. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 160 Main Street, Cedarville on Friday, December 2nd at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Dividing Creek Baptist Cemetery in Downe Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the services. Written condolences can be sent to the family though the funeral home website at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
