Obituary of George W. Coombs

George W. “Sonny” Coombs, Jr. of Cedarville died on Sunday, December 25, 2016 at Kent General Hospital in Dover, DE. Sonny was born in Fairfield Twp. to the late George W. Coombs, Sr. and Erma Durham Coombs and was the husband of Barbara Loatman Coombs. Prior to his retirement, he had owned and operated the Coombs Farm in Cedarville and drove trucks for his trucking company, B & G Trucking. In addition to his wife Barbara, he is survived by his three sons, George W. Coombs, III and his wife, Betty of Vineland, James N. Coombs of Vineland and Timothy B. Coombs and his wife, Sheila of Cedarville; three brothers, Leslie Coombs of Fairfield Twp. Lee Coombs of Fairfield Twp. and Glendon Coombs of DE; five sisters, Shirley Durham of DE, Doris Coombs of Millville, Erma Coombs of Vineland, Donna Coombs of Bridgeton and Joanne Coombs of Carney’s Point; 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp on Saturday, December 31st at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the services. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you join them for a “Dutch Treat” luncheon following the services.
