Obituary of Frederick P. Froelich

Frederick Paul Froelich, Jr., age 89, of Upper Deerfield, went home to be with our Lord, on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the Veterans Memorial Home, Vineland where he had resided for the last three years. Fred was born in Wycoff, NJ, to the late Frederick Paul Froelich and Florence Soutar Froelich.
Fred served our country during World War II in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1948, which included the USS Arkansas and the USS Atlanta.
Fred graduated from Defiance College, Ohio. As a Business Education teacher, Fred taught accounting and typing in the public school system for 34 years. He taught at Pitman, Delsea and finally Clearview Regional High School.
Fred served Upper Deerfield Township for 38 years as the Building Inspector and Construction Code Official. Upon his retirement from Upper Deerfield Township, the construction office was dedicated and renamed “The Fred P. Froelich, Jr. Construction Office”.
Fred was the proprietor of Froelich Awning Company. He had many trademark red trucks over the years filled with ladders, materials, coffee cans and coffee cups.
Fred was an avid Phillies fan and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Fred is survived by three children. Jane (Bruce) Garrison, Robert Froelich, and Janet (Thomas) Morris, three grandchildren, Thomas Frederick Morris, Johnathan James Morris and Mackenzie Elizabeth Froelich, and one great-grandchild, Madelyn Elizabeth Corson, and several nieces and nephews. Fred was predeceased by his six siblings, Kathryn (Howard) Vanderbeck, Dorothy (Jack) Huggins, Winifred Froelich, Florence (George) Wertz, Lucille (William) Doot, and Robert (Margo) Froelich.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held at the Cumberland County Veteran’s Cemetery, Trench Road, Hopewell Twp. at 11 AM on Friday, March 31st, under the direction of PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Twp. Written condolences can be sent to the family at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com. In lieu of flowers, please remember Fred when you are enjoying a delicious cup of coffee, eating a great meal, watching the Phillies, or while engaging in a great adventure on God’s beautiful earth, for Fred loved life!
