Obituary of Darlene F. Del Greco
Frances “Darlene” Del Greco (nee George) passed away on May 28, 2017 in Seguin, Texas at the age of 79.
Darlene was born in Bridgeton, NJ in 1937 and attended Immaculate Conception School and Sacred Heart High School. As a young girl, she studied piano and played the organ at local church services. She married the love of her life Peter Anthony Del Greco in 1957. They raised three daughters, Margie, Kim, and Michelle in southern New Jersey. Darlene worked in a variety of professions and places over the years including, Owens-Illinois, Citizens Bank, the U.S. Postal Service, and Dillard’s. With the death of her husband in 1986, she moved to be closer to her children, residing in New York and Ohio, prior to moving to Texas in 2009. Throughout her adult years, her greatest source of joy was spending time with her beloved children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Anthony Del Greco; parents, Frank and Marjorie George; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Romey Rabbai; brother-in-law, Mervin Ballinger; nephews and niece, Dennis, Douglas, Daryl, and Susan Ballinger; and in-laws, Nettie and Edward Geisler.
Survivors include her sister, Catharine George Ballinger; children, Marjorie Olivari and husband Brian, Kimberly Stephens and husband Robert, and Michelle Del Greco; grandchildren, Jennifer Olivari and fiancé Seth McMahon, Brittany Olivari and fiancé Hugo Fenaux, Meredith Olivari, Benjamin Olivari, Nicholas Stephens, and Katharine Stephens; nieces and friends, Barbara Shimp and Diane Rabbai; and numerous cousins, great-nieces and nephews, and friends. She also leaves her beloved friend of over seventy years and cousin through marriage, Olga Cassidy. The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Windsor Nursing and Rehabilitation and Gentiva Hospice for the kind and compassionate care provided.
Visitation will be held from 10am-11am on Monday, June 19, 2017 at the Immaculate Conception Church. A Mass of Christian Burial and Holy Communion will follow directly at 11am. Entombment will be made following the Mass at Overlook Cemetery’s Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation, 100 NE Loop 410, Suite 706, San Antonio, TX 78216. Please write Child Life Medical Play Fund on the memo line. These funds will be used to help children hospitalized at the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio learn about their medical condition and develop coping skills through medical play opportunities with certified child life specialists.
