Kay Ichinaga, 77, of Upper Deerfield Twp. died on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Inspira Medical Center-Elmer after living with Parkinson's disease for many years.

 

            Born in Fresno, CA to the late Isamu Ichinaga and Tsuruko Okada Ichinaga, he was the husband of Jeanne MacPherson Ichinaga. Following internment during the second World War, Kay came to Bridgeton with his family and lived there until 1965 when he moved to Upper Deerfield Twp. where he was a resident for the rest of his life.

 

            Kay had worked mostly in the telecomunications field for Bell Telephone/Verizon from 1968-1990 when he retired. He had also worked for Brown Institute from 1965-1968. He was a veteran of the United States Army from 1959 to 1961, serving the majority of his time stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was a member of IBEW Union local #827. In his free time he enjoyed gardening and in his younger years working on cars particularly a Ford Model-A and fishing. He also cherished spending time with his grandchildren.

 

            He is survived by; his wife, Jeanne Ichinaga of Upper Deefield Twp.; two sons, Philip Ichinaga (Shina) of Philadelphia and Timothy Ichinaga (Stacy) of Egg Harbor Twp.; two grandchildren, Kai and Hana; a brother, Roy Ichinaga of CA and a sister, Irene Rossi of Millville. He was preceded in death by a sister, Hatsumi Ichinaga.

 

            Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUENRAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Twp.
