Obituary of Edward R. Hanby
Edward R. Hanby, 88, of Bridgeton died on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland following two months of failing health.
Born in Bridgeton in 1929, he was the husband of the late Mary F. Smith Hanby, who died in 2006. Edward was a lifetime resident of the Bridgeton area.
Prior to his retirement, Edward had been employed at Owens Illinois Glass Co. in Bridgeton. He had also been previously employed by the former Hess Gas Station in Carlls Corner and Duralift Co. in Millville. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country during WWII. Edward enjoyed listening to country music and his favorite artists were; Johnny Cash, Elvis, Gene Autry and Roy Rogers. He also enjoyed watching John Wayne westerns and reading.
He is survived by; a son, Edward L. Hanby and his wife, Ruth of Wappinger Falls, NY; two daughters, Karen H. Mix and her husband, Andrew of Downingtown, PA and Barbara Taylor and her husband, Joel, Jr. of Millville; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, Mary F. Smith Hanby, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERALHOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Sunday, January 28th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Laurel Lawn Cemetery, in Upper Deerfield Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
