Obituary of Irving J. Carman
Irving J. “Carman” Carman of Fairfield Twp. passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland.
Born in Bridgeton to the late Paul Carman and Daisy Caruthers Carman, he was the husband of Jennie E. Pettit Carman. Irving had lived at his current address in Farfield Twp. since 1961 and had been a resident of Fairfield Twp. for most of his life.
Prior to his retirement, Irving had worked at Wheaton Glass Co. in Millville for 18 years in the packing department. He had been previously employed at P.J. Ritter & Co. in Bridgeton for 15 years. In his free time, Irving enjoyed woodworking scale models of various structures including churches and gazebos. He loved word search puzzles and completing the newspaper crossword puzzle with his wife, Jennie every morning. Irving also enjoyed metal detecting.
He is survived by; his wife, Jennie E. Carman of Fairfield Twp.; two sons, Peter J. Carman of Fairton and Frank J. Carman of Cedarville; a daughter, Shirley M. Carman of Lexington, NC; his sister, Shirley J. Carman of Bridgeton and three grandchildren, Jeremy, Joanna and Larry. He was preceded in death by his brother, John P. Carman.
Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 160 Main Street, Cedarville on Wednesday, February 14th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton.
