Obituary of Carroll L. Brown

Carroll Lee Brown, Sr. 81, OF Upper Deerfield Township departed this life to his heavenly home in the early morning of March 15, 2018.

On October 4, 1936 he was born in a cabin in the mountains of Johnathan’s Creek, NC to parents Rayford & Ethel (Parton) Brown. At the age of 13, his family relocated to NJ. He started working at Edgar Joyce’s nursery as a teen. This gave him the foundation to owning his own nursery (Can House Road Nursery) on Center Rd. in Upper Deerfield until his health no longer allowed. 

Leaving behind is a daughter: Brenda Zurlo, a granddaughter he and his first wife Judy raised as their own, Andrea (Brian) Rossello; his second wife, Patricia Smith Brown; granddaughters, Sandy (Jamie Adkins), Sheri (James) Vega; and grandson, Anthony (Kelly) Zurlo; sisters, Barbara Casper, Patricia (Robin) Durham; brothers, L.C. (Darlene) Brown and Kenneth Brown;  great grandchildren, Tallon, Anthony Jr., James Jr., Brevin, Mikayla, Kylie, Erika, Daniel, Alex, & Brialynn.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Julia “Judy” (Moriarty) Brown, his son, Carroll “Butch” Brown, Jr. and his daughter, Sandra “Sandy” Brown.  He was also predeceased by his sister, Anita (Brown) Loew and brothers, Rev. Charles Brown, William “Bill” Brown, and James “Tommy” Brown.

            Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Wednesday, March 21st at 11 AM.  Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9 to 11 AM prior to the services.  Interment will take place at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Township.  Written condolences can be sent to the family at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
