Obituary of John Benjamin Saunders, Sr.

John Benjamin Saunders, Sr., 82, of Port Norris passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2018 at Inspira Medical Center-Vineland following an extended illness.

Born in Saint Inegoes, MD to the late William Saunders and Saddie Montaque Saunders, he was the husband of Joanna Farrington Saunders. In the Early 1950's, John moved to Port Norris where he was a resident for the rest of his life.

Prior to his retirement, John had worked for Kimble Glass Co. in Vineland from 1973 to 1997 as a tow motor driver. He had also been formerly employed by Riggins and Robins Seafood in Port Norris as a clam shucker and several oyster boats in the Port Norris area. John was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Port Norris. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and his family described him as a person who was always ready with a good joke.

John is survived by; his wife, Joanna Farrington Saunders of Port Norris; three children, Michelle Farrington of Vineland, Michael Saunders of California, MD and Carla Saunders of Port Norris; three sisters, Susie Price, Lillie Saunders and Christine Saunders; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, John B. Saunders, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at John Wesley United Methodist Church, 2523 Ogden Ave, Port Norris on Saturday, April 28th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Haleyville Methodist Cemetery in Commercial Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
