Obituary of Shirley A. Allen

            Shirley A. Allen, 72, of Vineland passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Inspira Medical Center-Vineland.

            Shirley was born in Shelby, NC to the late Clara Allen. She had been a resident of Vineland for the past three years and prior to that she had lived in Millville.

            Prior to her retirement, Shirley had been employed at the Vineland Developmental Center for 33 years. “Sister Shirley” was a member of Union Baptist Temple in Bridgeton where she sang as a member of the choir and served on the usher board. In her free time, Shirley enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

            She is survived by four children, Andrew J. Allen of Bridgeton, Clara Vinson of Vineland, Alicia Bonner of Vineland and Terry D. Allen of Millville; three sisters, Diane Allen of NC, Janice Allen of NC and Sadie Allen-Hayne of SC; two brothers, Bobby Allen of Vineland and James Allen of MS; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Allen and Eunice Allen and two brothers, Henry Allen and Bill Allen.

            Funeral services will be held at Union Baptist Temple, 30 Martin Luther King, Jr. Way, Bridgeton on Saturday, May 12^th at 10 AM. Interment will take place at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 8 AM to 10 AM prior to the services.
