Obituary of Sandra Overs
Sandra “Sandy” Overs, of Bridgeton, completed her journey to Heaven peacefully at home and surrounded by family on December 15, 2018.
Sandy will be remembered for her silly, blunt sense of humor which led to some hilarious comments that will live on in the memories of those who loved her. Sandy spent her later years as a single woman who loved to entertain her family with tales of her crushes on John Wayne and Rod Stewart. Anyone who visited Sandy noticed very quickly that she was a collector, her favorite theme being strawberries. She also loved her “ladies”, a set of Victorian figurines she collected through the years.
Sandy was beloved as Mommy to: Roselee Rizzo of Millville; Marie Whitson (Dave) of Pittsgrove Twp; Albert Rizzo, Jr. (Kim) of Deerfield Twp; John Rizzo, Sr. of Millville; Cynthia Overs of Millville; and David Overs, Jr. of Dallas, Texas. She was matched in silliness by those who called her Mommom, Lisa Dilks (Pre-Deceased), Amanda Schiavo (Tommy), Amber Halter, John Rizzo, Jr., Catherine Raymond, Dylan Whitson, Deidra Whitson, Dalton Whitson, Victoria Raymond, and great grandsons, Joseph, Vincent, Noah, and Ethan. She will also be remembered by her nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends that became family along the way.
Sandy is joining a card game with her sisters, Delores “Dodie” Steigerwalt, Helen Sharp, and Darlene Koble, filled with laughs and likely some inappropriate jokes. Their parents Dorothy and Fred Dawson are sitting nearby. She is also welcomed by her granddaughter Lisa Dilks.
Sandy was originally from Gloucester City, however she spent most of her life in the Cumberland County area, living the last 10 years in Bridgeton. She often spoke fondly of the friendships she made while attending the Active Day program in Upper Deerfield Twp. and living in Riverwalk Senior Apartments, perhaps most notably her very dear friend, Neal Goff.
Funeral services will be held at THE PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp on Wednesday, December 19th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Laurel Lawn Cemetery in Upper Deerfield Twp. Friends will be received a the funeral home from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
