Obituary of Stephen "Steve" Starkey

Stephen “Steve” Starkey, Sr., 64, of Cedarville passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Inspira Medical Center-Vineland.

Born in Bridgeton to the late Arthur and Sara (Shultz) Starkey, he was the husband of 45 years to Gloria (Williams) Starkey. Steve had been a resident of Cedarville most of his life.

In his youth, he was an avid Boy Scout and had attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

Prior to his retirement, Steve had been employed by the Cumberland County Guidance Center as a maintenance supervisor for 36 years. In his free time, he liked to hunt and to spend time with his dog, Sally.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Starkey of Cedarville; a brother, Arthur Starkey, Jr. and his wife, Ann and a daughter, Pastor Lori Mitchell and her husband, Daniel of Lower Alloways Creek. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Starkey, Jr.

Memorial services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Friday, January 25th at 3 PM. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 2 PM to 3 PM prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Steve's memory to the Fairton United Methodist Church, 20 Main Street, Bridgeton, NJ 08302.
