Obituary of Carl Ridgeway

Carl Ridgeway, 80, of Upper Deerfield Twp. passed away on Monday, July 8, 2019 under the care of Hospice and his family.

Born in Franklinville to the late Timothy Ridgeway, Sr. and Catherine Reed Ridgeway, he was the husband of the late Betty Jean Libey Ridgeway. Carl had lived in the Bridgeton area since 1995 and had lived in Leesburg prior to that. He had also lived in Tennessee for a period of time.

Prior to his retirement, Carl had been employed at Sam Levin's Salvage Yard in Vineland for many years. He had been previously employed as the manager of several local KO gas stations from Vineland to Atlantic City with his wife, as an oysterman on the docks at Cold Springs, Cape May and as a truckdriver for Tropical Tile in Bridgeton. He was a former member of the Leesburg Volunteer Fire Department. In his free time, Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by three children, Debbie Bates and her husband, Michael of Laurel Lake, Carl W. Ridgeway of Millville and Christopher Ridgeway and his wife, Misty of Upper Deerfield Twp.; a brother, Joey Ridgeway; eight grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joann Ridgeway; three brothers, Pete Ridgeway, Timothy Ridgeway, Jr. and Amos Ridgeway; two sisters, Grace Ridgeway and Rosie Montavo and a great-granddaughter, Olivia Cadence.

Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Saturday, July 13th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Leesburg Methodist Cemetery in Maurice River Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
