Obituary of WIlliam J Johnson
William J Johnson, affectionately known as "Sill" to many, age 58, entered into eternal rest on September 11, 2019 surrounded by his family after battling a lengthy illness.
William was born on April 18, 1961 to June Holmes Kelly and the late Willie J Johnson. William was educated through the Bridgeton Public School System. Throughout William's life, he held many jobs such as; Garrison Nursery, Seabrook Brothers and Sons and Minot's Food Packaging.
William chose God to be his personal Savior in June of 2019 under the leadership of Pastor Jeremy Cornett of the Spirit and Truth Worship Center where he would attend occasionally.
William was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan along with the Philadelphia 76ers and the Phillies. He loved playing horseshoes at family gatherings. He was known as the BBQ king throughout where he lived. If you got a little out of hand, he would tell you some choice words and kick you out but you were allowed back once you got it together.
In 1992, William met Faith Heigh Johnson. They were united in marriage on August 23, 2003. Faith remained by William's side through his sickness until his death.
William leaves to cherish his memories; his mother, June Holmes Kelly; his wife, Faith Johnson; his step-mother Maxine Johnson; four sons, William Ridgeway, Tahni Johnson, Quamere Johnson and Lamont Heigh; three daughters, Taneisha Johnson, Fayeisha Jordan and Quindaja Heigh; three God daughters, Jorgiana Mills, Afrika Fuller and Shantae Hadden; two God sons, Terrel “TG” Goodwin and Tyler Bassett; 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Barbara (Chrissy) Johnson, Jeanette (George) Simpson and Sheila(Roman) Kelly; two brothers, Matthew Johnson and Henry Kelly Jr.; three aunts, Alice Rainner, Helena Holmes and Mary Bridges; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law; his best friends, Troy Thomas and George Smith and a host of nephews, neices and cousins. William was preceded in death by his father; Willie J Johnson, his stepfather, Henry Kelly; a brother, Mark Johnson; his grandmother, Susie Holmes; an aunt, Ruth Holmes and his brother-in-law, Clem Heigh.
Funeral services will be held at Victory in Christ Ministries, 93 Fairton-Millville Rd., Fairton on Saturday, September 21st at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Fairfield Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
