Obituary of Rev. Edgar Guy Wiker

Reverend Edgar Guy Wiker, 87, of Hopewell Twp., passed away on Monday, December 23, 2019 at his home under the care of hospice and his family. Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Edgar M. Wiker and Lillian Honeker Wiker, he was the husband of Irene Rae Wiker. Rev. Wiker was a resident of Hopewell Twp. for the past 21 years and prior to that he had lived in Friesburg. Rev. Wiker had served as pastor of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Friesburg for 33 years. He then supplied as pastor at Christ Lutheran Church in Bridgeton for eight years. Rev. Wiker remained active with Faith Farm from its creation until its closing and then taught at Mission Teens in Norma. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. Rev. Wiker continued to play fast pitch softball until the age of 65. He is survived by; his wife, Irene Wiker of Hopewell Twp.; two daughters, Mona Wiker-Hess and her husband, Thomas of Logan Twp. and Christine Wiker-Smith and her husband, Scott of Upper Deerfield Twp. and four grandchildren, Monica Barnes, Parker Smith, Kristina Hess and Paige Smith. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Wiker. Memorial services will be held at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 366 Cohansey Friesburg Rd., Elmer on Thursday, January 2nd at 2 PM. Friends will be received at the church from 1 PM to 2 PM prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Rev. Wiker's memory to Emanuel Lutheran Church, P.O.
