Obituary of Donald W. Connelly, Sr.

Donald W. Connelly, Sr., 64, of Hopewell Township passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at his home. Born in Bridgeton to the late Joseph Connelly and Eileen Schielack Connelly, he was the husband of Darlene Halter Connelly. Donald had been a resident of Hopewell Twp for the past 35 years and prior to that he had resided in Bridgeton. Before his retirement two years ago, Donald had worked as a Mail Carrier for the United States Post Office in Bridgeton for 35 years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during a time of peace. Donald was a member of the VFW Meade-Woodward Post 1795-Bridgeton. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, crabbing and cooking. He was also an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife, Darlene Connelly of Hopewell Twp.; his daughter, Chelsie Connelly of Hopewell Twp.; his son, Donald W. Connelly, Jr. (Jourdan) of FL; six siblings, twin brother, David Connelly of Mays Landing, Ken Connelly of Upper Deerfield Twp., Joseph Connelly of Hopewell Twp., Thomas Connelly of Upper Deerfield Twp., Shirley Frazer of Fairfield Twp. and Bonnie Facemyer of Pittsgrove Twp. and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Connelly. Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
