Obituary of Vernelle Fletcher

Please share a memory of Vernelle to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Vernelle Ree Fletcher was born on August 11, 1932 in Gaffney South Carolina, to the late William “Jack” Davis and Leanna Davis (nee Smith). She was the eldest of 9 children. She graduated from Granard High School in 1952, after which the family relocated to Bridgeton, NJ. While enrolled in college she simultaneously worked different jobs to contribute to the household. It was during this time that she met her future husband, Willie Joe Fletcher. They were married in January 1956, and shortly after began to expand their family. Their first child, Andrea “Angie” Fletcher, was born in September 1957, and unfortunately passed away of pneumonia in January 1958. This led Vernelle to her relationship with Jesus Christ. By this time, Willie Joe had become a minister, and together they worked passionately for the church. Vernelle gave birth to five more children, William Joel, Vaughan Dewee, Timothy Toy, Bryan Keith, and Knesha Leighann. Vernelle’s life became a testimony of grace, faithfulness, generosity, and hard work. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, her 5 children and their spouses, 10 grandchildren and their spouses, 25 great-grandchildren, three sisters, two brothers and multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, god-children, and friends. Funeral services will be held at Cecil Deliverance Tabernacle, 1110 Coles Mill Rd. Williamstown on Saturday, August 8th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Hopewell Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services. Written condolences can be sent to the family through the funeral home website at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
