Donald “Ding” L. Dilks, 72, of Hopewell Twp. passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at his home under the care of his family and hospice. Born in Alloway, he was the son of Doris Erb Dilks and the late Raymond Dilks Sr., and was the husband of Nancy Biddle Dilks of Hopewell Twp. He had lived in Alloway Twp., and Pennsville prior to becoming a Hopewell and Bridgeton area resident in 1992. Ding was a graduate of the Woodstown High School class of 1966. He retired from EI Dupont Corp. in 2009 after 43 years of employment, where he worked in many different positions. He served his community as a fireman for the Pennsville Fire Department for several years. Ding was also a member of the Buckshorn Sportsman Club. In his free time, Ding enjoyed hunting, softball, spending time with his family and helping others. He shared a hunting cabin in PA with his friends where they would take annual hunting trips. Ding was a considered a jack of all trades and an overall renaissance man. He was proficient in many types of handy work including; electrical, plumbing, building and mechanics. He is survived by; his wife, Nancy Dilks; his mother, Doris Dilks; three sons, James Pittman (his fiancée Vanyda and her sons Evan and Aiden), Bryan Dilks and Brandon Dilks; daughter in law Heather Zane (Dave); three brothers, Raymond Dilks, James Dilks and Mickey Dilks; a sister in law, Cheryl (James) Raines; two grandchildren, Amanda Dilks and Savon Pittman; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by; his father Raymond Dilks Sr. and a grandchild, Dalton. Funeral Services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Wednesday, August 19th at 3 PM. Friends and family will be received at the funeral home from 2 PM to 3 PM prior to the services. In lieu of flower the family request that donations be made in Donald's memory to the Pennsville Fire Department, 91 1st St, Pennsville, NJ 08070 or to the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Rd, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034. Due to current regulations associated with the Covid-19 healthcare situation, we are limited to 50 people within the funeral home at a time and the understanding and cooperation of the public is greatly appreciated.
