Obituary of Lester A. McAllister

Lester A. (Les) McAllister, Sr., age 97, of Alloway Township, died peacefully at home on January 7, 2021. Born in Greenwich, Cumberland County, he was the son of the late William & Bertha (Wible) McAllister. Mr. McAllister was a hard-working, life-long farmer engaged in dairy, swine, vegetable, grain and hay crop production. He was a member of the Friesburg Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He dearly loved his wife, large family of siblings and his children. He also loved spending time in the woods, and long drives through rural South Jersey. Mr. McAllister is survived by his children, Lester, Jr., Edward, Michael (Rosemarie), Stephen (Melinda), Cynthia (Russell) Hardwick, and Todd (Sherry); five granddaughters, six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Frank McAllister. He was predeceased by his late wife, June Hitchner McAllister, in 2017; his brothers Lewis, Russell, Charles, and Melvin; and his sisters, Hazel Wilson, Margaret Swing, Anna Howe, Bertha Hackett, and Helen Pompper. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 12th, at the Padgett Funeral Home, 1107 State Highway 7, Upper Deerfield Township where friends and family are invited to visit from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will follow the funeral service in the Friesburg Lutheran Cemetery.
