Obituary of Ronald G. Leach Sr.

Ronald G. Leach Sr, 78, of Clermont, FL and Pittsgrove, NJ passed away peacefully at home in Florida on December 2, 2020, after an extended illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. Ron was an honorably discharged veteran of the US Air Force and is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Harriett nee Pollock, daughter Karen Zaleski, (Mark), son Ronald G. Leach Jr, (Paula), and granddaughters Dani Leach, Calli Zaleski, Alison Leach, Cassie Zaleski, and his brother Gerald. Ron was predeceased by his mother Laura (Bacon), his father Gilbert Sr., brothers Charles Leach and Leon Savage, and sister Brenda (Watson). Ron was probably best known around town by his nickname “Spray-Nine” because of the business he built from the ground up and then successfully turned into a retirement dream he and Harriett shared, owning a house in Florida and buying an RV to travel the country. Ron had an adventurous spirit, which led him down many paths that included building a dune buggy, scuba diving, sailing, skiing, going on cruises, shooting firearms even taking flying lessons. But the adventures he enjoyed the most of all were the ones he and Harriett had the fortune of sharing until health issues forced him to slow down. Ron was very involved in the lives of his four granddaughters and loved being surrounded by them. “The girls” often shared weekend mom-mom and pop-pop sleepovers, RV trips, backyard bonfires, and of course the playhouse he had bought just for them, complete with lights! Although it’s a time of sadness for all of us, we celebrate what he leaves behind and our fond memories of him. Memorial services will be held on February 13, 2021, at the Padgett Funeral Home in Bridgeton, NJ where friends and family will be received at 10:00 am. We invite you to come and share in the memories of the life he lived and have an opportunity to share your stories, hopefully, filled with some funny ones. In addition to our mother Harriett, who lovingly and unconditionally cared for him during this difficult time, we would also like to recognize his Florida hospice nurse Betsy Rivera-Martinez who provided phenomenal care and support to all of us. Thank you, you made a difference. In lieu of flowers, our family requests donations be made in Ron’s memory to a charity of your choice or to the Compassionate Care Hospice of Florida, Amedisys foundation.
