Obituary of Leslie F. Smith

Leslie F. Smith, 66, of Hopewell Township passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Born in Bridgeton, he was the husband of Barbara Wildin Smith and the son of the late Floyd Smith and Flora Williams Smith. He had been a resident of Hopewell Township for 35 years and prior to that had lived in Vineland. Les was employed with Cumberland Dairy as a Diesel Mechanic and had been with the company for over 35 years. An avid NASCAR and Dirt Track racing fan he enjoyed attending events at Charlotte and Daytona Speedways and especially Bridgeport Speedway He also enjoyed camping, cooking and the many soccer games he attended with his children. The mountains and the area of Eastern Tennessee where his family was from always held special meaning for him throughout his life. In addition to his wife, Barbara, he is survived by his three children, Doug Smith (Heartley Huber) of VA, Dan Smith (Alicia) of Pittsgrove and Tricia Crego (Kyle) of Ocean View; five grandchildren, Ben, Alexis, Delaney, George and Sloane; one brother, Eugene Smith; two sisters, Judy West and Peggy Godfrey and “The 6A Family”. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia DeJohn and his brothers, Charles Smith and Raymond Smith. Memorial services will be held at Maranatha Baptist Church, 1524 Bridgeton-Millville Pike, Millville on Friday, July 9th at 11 AM. Friends will be received at the church from 10 to 11 AM prior to the services. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions in Les's memory be made to Salvage USA, a veterans outreach organization at salvageusa.org.
