Obituary of Lewis M. Stoms

Lewis M. Stoms, Sr., passed at 5:35 PM on August 1st 2021 at Elmer Hospital with family at his side. Born in Sharptown, NJ, he was the son of the late Edgar Herman Stoms and Isabella White Stoms and was one of eight children. He was the last living member of his immediate family. Married twice he was the husband of Lillian Ackley Stoms whom passed in 1980 with breast cancer and his second wife Dorothy T. Stoms who passed away February 2021. He is survived by his children, Lewis Stoms, Jr. (Barbara) of Hampstead MD and Eugene Stoms (Deborah) of Deerfield, NJ; his son-in-law, Howard Pancoast of Upper Deerfield Twp., NJ.; step son, Howard Davis (Judy) of Pittsgrove, NJ; ten grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Kathryn Stoms Pancoast. He worked for Ackley’s Inc. in Deerfield for more than 52 years and then in his own repair shop until he was 88.There was nothing he would not attempt to repair. He was an active member of the Upper Deerfield Volunteer Fire Co. for 65 years and a member for 73 years. As member of the Deerfield Presbyterian church he served in many positions through the years and after his second marriage, became an active member serving in many positions at the Deerfield United Methodist Church. The family would like to sincerely thank Lew and Dot’s care giver Galina Isacova and her Husband Vladimir Delcarpio for the excellent care they extend to them. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 13th at 11:00 AM at the Deerfield United Methodist Church, 1557 State Highway 77, Deerfield. Friends will be received on Thursday evening, August 12th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township. A short Fireman’s Service will be conducted at 7:00 PM. A visitation will also be held at the church one hour prior to the services on Friday. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions in Lewis’ memory be made to either the Deerfield United Methodist Church, P.O.
