Happy for Norm that his wonderful smile and ornery self is now gracing Heaven but oh how we miss him here already. He was my husband's youth group director back in the 70s at Bridgeton Assembly and Israel remembers that he was totally likeable, funny and friendly to everyone. As a newcomer to Bridgeton Assembly over 40 years ago to me Norman Cobb was THE welcoming committee. Once I was introduced to him as Israel's wife, he ALWAYS called me Mrs. Israel (which helped me acclimate to the fact that everyone at Bridgeton Assembly called Victor by his middle name). Every Sunday, Norm would come over and greet us. And on those many Sundays when my husband had to be at work Norman would still come over, greet the kids and ask me, "where's your hubby?" and "tell him I was asking for him". Over the years he just came to be a favorite of mine. I loved his stories although seems many times the stories were shared in the church parking lot. He shared fond memories of times with the youth group and snippets of family and Port Norris history. He had a way in conversations of directly connecting somehow with you. My favorite conversation involved baseball. Somehow he had gotten to know me well enough to know I liked baseball so he told me "You DO know my brother was Ty Cobb?" And of course at the end of the story, it turned out to be true. A lot of conversations with him were like that...there was humour and a twist of fun. Somehow I went from calling him Mr. Cobb to "Ornery" right to his smiling face and he didn't seem to mind at all. Dot, Israel and I both cherish Norman's memory and send our deepest condolences and prayers for comfort to you and your family.

I can vividly remember Mr. Cobb when his granddaughters attended Deerfield Township School. He would usually attend any and all activities when his granddaughters were participating. He was always friendly and supportive. I'm sure he will be missed by his many family and friends.

Norm Cobb was a special person who loved everyone he met. He had the best "Dad" humor and if you met him once you would never forget his welcoming smile. He always had great stories but some were really hard to believe. If anyone needed help he was the first one to volunteer. He loved his family fiercely and there was no limit to what he would do for them. He was a good man, a good husband, a great father and a friend who lived his life with passion and honor. The world is a better place because of you. Thinking of the Cobb Family.
