Obituary of Evelyn E. Stites

On Friday, September 24th, 2021, Evelyn Stites, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away at the age of 72. Evelyn was born on March 13th, 1949 to William and Helen (Haussmann) Mains. She graduated from Wayne High School in 1967 and received her bachelor's degree in education from William Paterson College in 1971. She taught for over 30 years at Hopewell Crest School in Cumberland County, NJ. Evelyn was very dedicated; both at work and at home. She had a talent for painting, a hobby that she shared with some close friends. She enjoyed quiet days at home, reading, walking, and especially spending time with family and friends. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, and always known as a kind and compassionate individual by all who were a part of her life. Evelyn was preceded in death by her father, William, her mother, Helen, her sister, Dorothy, her husband, Charles, and their daughter, Erin. She is survived by her two children, Allison and Ryan, her grandchild, Aidan, and her brother, William. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 5th, 2021 at Padgett Funeral Home, 1107 State Highway 77, Bridgeton, NJ at 11 AM. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Laurel Lawn Cemetery in Upper Deerfield. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home, or a memorial donation in lieu of flowers may be made to Holt International or American Cancer Society, two organizations that she supported throughout her life.
