Obituary of Evelyn M. Gandy

Evelyn M. Gandy, 102, of Hopewell Township passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at Cumberland Manor. Born in Fairton, she was the daughter of the late John Miller and Ella Ott Miller and the wife of the late Harry Gandy. She had been a resident at Cumberland Manor since 2012 and had lived in Bridgeton and Fairton prior to that. Evelyn retired from the Seibel and Stern Clothing Company in Bridgeton in 1984 after 32 years of employment there. She attended the Bridgeton Seventh Day Adventist Church and especially enjoyed cooking and Sunday dinners. She is survived by her daughter, Elsie M. Brown of Bridgeton; her daughter in law, Lois Gandy of Upper Deerfield Township, 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandsons and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Harry Gandy, III; her daughter, Joan Stipes; 6 brothers, John, Howard, Glendon, Wilbert, Robert and Raymond Miller and 5 sisters, Thelma, Naomi, Myrtle, Pauline and Mabel. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Thursday, December 2nd at 11:00 AM. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Newport Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in Evelyn’s memory be made to the Bridgeton Seventh Day Adventist Church.
