Obituary of Albert C. Walton

The Rev. Albert C. Walton, 86, of Upper Deerfield Township, former Priest at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church of Bridgeton, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011 at the South Jersey HealthCare Hospice Care Unit in Bridgeton. He had been in failing health for the past year. The husband of E. Claire McCubbin Walton, he was born in Frankford, PA and was the son of the late Albert Welsh Walton and Lillie Townsend Walton. He had been a resident of the Bridgeton area for the past 24 years. Retired for the past 5 years, he had served as a Priest for 43 years and had also been employed in the accounting department of the Reading Railroad for several years. He was a graduate of the Episcopal Seminary in New York City Fr. Walton was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and was an active 32nd Degree Mason belonging to several lodges, including Brearly Lodge # 2, F&AM He was an active reader "To Learn" and was a Veteran of World War Two, serving in the U. S. Navy in the Pacific Theater as a pharmacists mate on the Carrier U.S.S. Langley. Besides his wife, survivors include: one son, Albert C. Walton, Jr. of Haddon Heights. His Requiem Eucharist and Burial Office will be read at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 186 East Commerce St., Bridgeton, on Wednesday morning, Oct. 26th, at 11:00 O'clock. Burial will be private at the Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery, Hopewell Township. A viewing will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Tuesday evening, Oct. 25th, from 6:00 to 7:00 O'clock, followed by Masonic Services and on Wednesday morning, Oct. 26th, from 10:00 to 11:00 O'clock prior to the services in the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Father Walton's memory to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 186 East Commerce St., Bridgeton, N. J. 08302.
