Obituary of Frances L. Kerr

Frances L. Kerr, 87, of Alloway Twp. passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Vistas Healthcare Hospice at Jefferson Stratford Hospital. Born in Salem to the late Francis Mehaffey and Eliza Sutton Mehaffey, she had been a resident of Alloway Twp. since 1961. Before that she had resided in Lambertville. Prior to her retirement, Frances had worked at the family nursery business, Hillside Garden and Farms in Alloway Twp. for over 40 years. When she was in her childhood years during World War II, she would watch from the tower on the farm for incoming enemy aircraft. She was also a contestant in the 1953 Miss America competition and a former model for the Ford Motor Company. Frances was a member of Deerfield United Methodist Church. She is survived by; her son, James L. Kerr of Alloway Twp.; her grandson, Caleb Johnson Kerr of Voorhees Twp., her sister, Augustus “Dolly” Sukeforth of Alloway Twp. and three nephews, Thomas Sukeforth of Bridgeton, John Sukeforth of Alloway Twp. and Carl Mehaffey, Jr. of Cohanssey. She was preceded in death by; her daughter, Lisa Nan Kerr and her brother, Carl Mehaffey, Sr. Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
