Melvin C. Lyman, 86, of Vineland formerly of Newport passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at the New Jersey Veteran's Memorial Home. Born in Gaston County, North Carolina to the late Carol H. Lyman and Mildred Pasour Lyman, he was the husband of the late Alynda E. Hines Lyman. Melvin had been a resident of Vineland for the past five years but had been a resident of Newport for most of his life. Prior to his retirement, Melvin had been employed at Santa's Best in Vineland for over 10 years and before that he had been employed at Owen's Illinois Glass Co. in Bridgeton for over 29 years. Melvin had been a member of Newport United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Iceland during his service. Melvin was a collector and conductor of model trains especially Lionel Trains. He also had an extensive collection of Matchbox cars. He is survived by; two children, Cheryl Boyd of Vineland and Barry Lyman (Stacie) of Farifield Twp. and six grandchildren, Karen McBride (Ian) of Newfield, Wyatt Boyd of Vineland, Evan Boyd of Vineland, Rebecca Lyman of Fairfield Twp., Holly Lyman of Fairfield Twp. and Scott Lyman of Fairlfield Twp. Besides his wife, Alynda, he was preceded in death by; his granddaughter, Sarah Lyman and his brother, Edward Lyman.
