Obituary of Verna R. Bateman
Please share a memory of Verna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Verna Ruth Bateman (LeMatty), 91, of Fairfield Twp., left this earth August 19, 2022 surrounded by her family.
Most people saw her outward beauty, if you were lucky enough to know her you got to experience her inner beauty. She had a work ethic like no other, and everything she did in her life was done to the best of her ability. Verna loved to sew, she loved to make crafts including pottery, her baking skills were like no other. She loved her family with her whole heart, she made sure it was known and felt. Verna was also known to “ram” around town, she was always willing to “flash” you for a laugh. If you were lucky she would put a mask on and hide to give you a good scare and an even better laugh. She had a rule to always leave things and people better than you found them. Her life displayed that, if you needed an ear, a voice, a laugh or an ass whooping, she was your girl. Although she isn’t present on earth, the seeds that she planted in each person she came in contact with, will continue to grow and make this world better then we found it. Her life was lived to the fullest and filled with love, and laughter until the end. A true example of Gods love, his patience and his grace. “Love one another as I have loved you” John 13:34
Verna is survived by her Children, Francis Bateman Jr. (Pam), Patricia Welden (Terry), Robin Fox and Stephen Bateman (Leslie). Her grandchildren: Patricia Simpkins (Shawn), David Hepner Jr. (Jackie), Dora Hepner, Heather Sheppard (Mark), Krista Smith (Phillip), Rebecca Kolva, Robin Higbee (Holly), Jennifer Schmidt (Aaron), Kelly Zurlo (Anthony), Ashley Padgett (Matt), Jeremiah Bateman (Joelle). She was also blessed with 21 Great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband Francis “chick” Bateman in 2017, she is in his arms dancing and raising hell in heaven-as it should be.
Services will be held privately at the convivence of the family. Written condolences can be sent to the family through the funeral home website at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
