Obituary of Shirley J. Martin

Shirley J. Martin, 86, of Hopewell Township passed away at Cumberland Manor on Monday, October 17, 2022. Born in Port Norris, she was the wife of the late Philip C. Martin who passed in March of 2014. Except for the period of time she had resided at Cumberland Manor, she had lived in Newport most of her life. Prior to her retirement, Shirley had been employed with the Dietary Department at the former Millville Hospital for many years. She was a member of the Second Pilgrim Baptist Church in Lawrence Township. She is survived by four grandchildren, Chantel J. Martin of Millville, Philip C. Martin, III of Commercial Township, Dominique I. Martin, Sr. of Newport and Cheyenne A. Martin of Millville, five great-grandchildren and a sister, Patricia Cheeley of GA along with many other family members. In addition to her husband Philip, she was predeceased by her son, Philip C. Martin, Jr. and her great-grandson, Dominique I. Martin, Jr. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Thursday, October 27th at 11:00 AM. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Haleyville Methodist Cemetery in Commercial Township.
