Obituary of Whilimenia Troxler

Please share a memory of Whilimenia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Whilimenia E. Troxler, dearest mother, grandmother, sister and friend, departed this life and accepted the hand of Jesus on the evening of Friday, November 11, 2022. She was born the eldest of 11 children to the late Emmit C. Baker, Sr. and Hattie Baker on Friday, June 12, 1942. She attended Bridgeton High School and with a desire for further learning, later attended Cumberland County College and Philadelphia Bible College, earning a certificate in Theology. She worked in administration for 32 years at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home. In December 1966, she united in marriage with Terry L. Troxler with whom she spent 43 loving and dedicated years until he was called home to be with the Lord in January 2010. Three loving children were born to this union; Debra, Dawn and Dru. Throughout her remarkable 80 years on earth, she touched and influenced countless people. In addition to being an exceptional wife and mother, she also served as a mentor to young women, a participant in couples ministry, counseling those in newer unions. For a brief period of time, she served as a volunteer at a local women’s shelter, assisting survivors of domestic abuse. Her desire to serve came from her following the example of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes. She was well known for baking delicious banana nut bread. She also enjoyed gardening and nursing plants back to life. Her family and friends were of highest importance and concern and she could often be found traveling, attending events, going to lunch or just simply catching up by phone with them. In recent years, she discovered the wonders of the internet and Facebook. Her comments and reactions to posts could always be found in her friends’ stories. Whilimenia, was a 40-year participating member of Union Baptist Temple, under the initial direction of Pastor Dr. M. Marquette Peace and currently Pastor Dr. Albert L. Morgan. Her life bible verse was Psalm 91; “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust,”... In addition to her parents, Whilimenia was preceded in her walk to heaven, by her loving husband, Terry L. Troxler, siblings Lavenia, Linda, Theodore, Emmett Jr. and Myyon. Whilimenia leaves to cherish her memory, children Debra Troxler-Butler (Keith), Dawn Troxler-Sherrer (Shannon) and Terrence Dru Troxler; grandchildren, Aaja, Mekhi and Olivia; sisters Pauline Baker-Ford, Gwen Baker Willis, Terri Lynn Baker and Donna Baker-Peat; loving nieces and nephews, cousins, UBT church family and loyal friends. She leaves an incredible legacy as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, mentor, devoted friend and dedicated matriarch. She will be missed but family and friends take solace in looking forward to a future “Oh Happy Day” heavenly reunion! To God be the Glory! Funeral services will be held at UNION BAPTIST TEMPLE, 30 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Bridgeton, on Saturday, November 19th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery in Hopewell Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the services. Written condolences can be sent to the family through the funeral home website at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
