Obituary of Sharon Elizabeth Salas

Reverend Sharon Elizabeth Salas passed away peacefully on Friday, November 25th, 2022 in Macon, GA. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family who she loved so much. She was born April 29th, 1959 in Bridgeton, New Jersey to her mother, Mary Johnson and father, Hubert Gould Jr. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings John (Jackie) Wise, Deborah Hudson, Mark Durham and left behind her husband of 17 years Hector Salas, step-children and step grandchildren, sisters Marvella Davis and Yolanda Bunn, son Marshan Durham, daughters Tashana Durham, Natasha Durham and Crystal Britton, and beloved grandchildren Destinee, Sharia, Shamar, Madison, Morgan, Nicho, Faith, Zion, Christina, and Kennedy. She was very, very much loved and will be missed terribly. Sharon appreciated country living. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and crafts and she was good at them all. She made dresses, clothes and even made robes for the entire youth choir - a champion seamstress. "Sharon's Cooking" was always amazing. In the 1990's she owned and operated her own restaurant in Bridgeton, El Tambarino, where she pioneered the merger of Spanish and soul food cuisine. In addition to being an adoring wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a faithful servant of the Lord, she was so much more to so many more. A genuine, dynamic woman - beautiful on both the outside and inside. She was never satisfied with mediocrity and continuously strived to rise above it. Insistent that her children's values would not be defined by their peers - or anyone else - she homeschooled them - a forceful advocate for all she believed in Sharon recognized potential in so many but dedicated herself to manifesting the youth. She began teaching Sunday school at King Memorial Church where she bloomed. She would drive through the neighborhood encouraging parents to bring their children to service, even offering to give them a ride. Over the span of her life, she was consistent in helping the youth, elderly, and less fortunate. She organized a community youth choir "Young Voices for Christ" and arranged weekly concerts for the sick and shut-in at the local nursing home. Sharon's Thanksgivings were spent in the church basement cooking before opening the doors to the homeless. Her vision translated in many ways but her annual youth camping trips were notably memorable. Every summer she successfully created a platform that touched and influenced the lives of so many. Whether it was the elderly, the youth, or the homeless, she committed to making sure that all had the support to achieve their highest potential and genuinely poured her heart into every bit of her ministry. Sharon was a force of nature with capable ways and brilliant mind. She fully enjoyed what she did and those she met in her days. She made the time to show up for everyone who reached out, always providing caring, trustworthy, and sound counsel. She was truly anointed. Anyone who knew Sharon knew that she was the most loving wife, mother and sibling a family could ask for. She shared this same love throughout her lifetime and that ... will live on forever.
