Obituary of Shirley A. Pierce

Shirley A. Pierce, 66, of Bridgeton NJ, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Inspira Medical Center in Elmer. She was born to the late Edward Jackson Brown and Susie Mae Cooke in Vidette, GA. Shirley had resided in NJ since she was five years old and briefly lived in Florida. She had worked at Wheaton Glass as a machine operator. Shirley loved to watch westerns and movies. She loved going to church and was a member/usher of Bethlehem Revival Temple in Bridgeton, NJ for over 10 years. She was also named “Usher of the Month” on many occasions. Shirley loved to be outside, to go for walks and gardening. She also loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her memory, her three siblings; Glinice Furmore of Deerfield Beach, FL, Mamie McPhee of Freeport IL, and James Brown Sr. of Warren, WI; six grandchildren, Dapreis Small of Bridgeton, Taliah Evans of Atlanta, GA, Tiana Evans of Millville, Gary Evans of Millville, Joseph Evans III of Millville, and Genesis Mutts; five great-grandchildren, Cree, I’viana, Carter, Jebodiah, Inaya; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; Edward and Susie Brown; her two sons, Gary Leon Evans and Joseph Evans Jr.; and three siblings, Edward J. Brown, Sunnie T. Brown, and Alice M. Brown. Funeral services will be held at the Bethlehem Revival Temple, 37 South Avenue, Bridgeton NJ, 08302 at 11:00 AM. Friends will be received at the church from 9:00 AM to11:00 AM prior to the service.
