Obituary of Marian D. Pierce
Please share a memory of Marian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marian D. Pierce was born March 16, 1927, to Harry and Elizabeth Pierce. Marian was the second of seven children.
She attended Gouldtown Elementary School.
Marian married Howard R. Pierce Sr. and together they had six children.
Marian eventually became a single parent and one of her greatest accomplishments in life was to raise her children successfully. She was a dedicated mother and took much pride in ensuring that her children didn’t want for anything. Often during a meal, we would ask, “mom are you going to eat?” And without fail, her response was always the same, “I will eat when you all are finished.”
Marian held several job positions including sewing factories, waitressing, domestic work, including taking in laundry and ironing, Marian eventually went to work for Wheaton’s Glass factory where she was employed for 18 years, until she retired.
Marian loved being outdoors, attending to her garden, cleaning, and organizing her yard and generally enjoying the sunshine. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, doing alterations, and designing dolls, and stuffed animals, which she would give away just to bring a smile to the recipient.
Marian attended the Nanticoke Lenni-lenape Indian Senior Center for years. She attended local churches including St. Andrews Episcopal Church and St. Johns United Methodist Church. She enjoyed socializing and fellowship.
Marian found pleasure in spending time with her family. She loved to laugh and make others laugh.
Marian is predeceased by two sons, Frank W. Pierce, and Howard R. Pierce Sr, one grandson, Michael J Pierce, one granddaughter, Yasmen Oliver, a brother, Harry Pierce and a sister, Lillian Johnson.
