Obituary of Sylviajane M. Dutton

Sylviajane “Syl” Maria Dutton, 51, of Millville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 3, 2023 at Inspira hospital of Vineland. Born in Bridgeton to Daniel Turpin and the late Elizabeth Steever, she grew up in Fairfield Twp. and graduated from Cumberland Regional High School. She went on to attend Star Technical Institute to become a medical assistant. Syl was a longtime homemaker and was also a member of the Port Elizabeth Volunteer Fire Company, Station 27. She greatly enjoyed the community outreach that came along with membership. Syl was a cancer survivor, and continued to win many other health battles throughout her life. She loved horses and going horseback riding. She was also a huge fan of wintersports, such as skiing and snowmobiling. She was known for her extensive collection of unicorns and all things unicorn related. She was an avid TV watcher, and was very knowledgeable on all things news and TV, especially her favorite show, Sons of Anarchy. Her close friends and family regarded her as an “intuitive empath”, and she was known as Aunt Silver to her nieces and nephews. She is survived by; her loving husband, Lewis Dutton of Millville; her father, Daniel Turpin of WV; her children, Hollie Smith (Joshua) of ND, Staci Burgess (Chris) of Millville, and Jacob Dutton of Millville; her grandchildren, Kamrin, Riley, and Sydney, all of Millville; her nephew Vinny Turpin (Elizabeth) of WV and host of other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by; her mother, Elizabeth Steever; her son, Anthony Dutton; and her siblings, Vincent Turpin, Thomas Turpin, and step-sister Kathy. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4PM on Sunday, July 16th, at Port Elizabeth Volunteer Fire Company, 7 Port Elizabeth-Cumberland Rd., Millville, NJ 08332.
