Obituary of Linda Marie Bethel

Linda “Aunty L.” Marie Bethel was born July 1, 1960 to the late Esther Owens of Port Norris, NJ and the late Eugene Bethel of Nassau, Bahamas. Linda was educated in the Port Norris school system. She attended Millville High Senior School and graduated in 1979. She spent many years as a human services assistant at the Woodbine Development Center shortly after graduating. Linda was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was passionate about children, cooking, and cleaning. With Linda, company became family. Also known as Aunty L, she embraced and showed love by serving others. Linda adored dancing; no one had better moves on the dance floor. Linda proclaimed that rededicating her life to the Lord was the best investment she ever made. “......where the spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty (2 Corinthian 3:17). Linda freely prayed, sang, and spoke of the goodness of God. Throughout her journey Linda could be seen giving God glory.  Linda leaves behind her life-long partner, Gilbert Davis, and her one and only beloved son, Desomond Bethel. Three grandchildren: Desmond Bethel, Jr., Brodrick Young, and the late Deniyah Marie Bethel. Linda leaves 15 siblings to cherish her memories: Daisy Walker, Lewis Kent (Percie), Jean Pope, Linwood Kent (Lana), Ronald Kent, Shirley Shorter, Muriel Carter, Bobby Owens, Preston Pierce (Vanessa), Michael Bethel, Sammy Bethel (Acey), Joyce Thomas (Darrin), Pricilla Bethel, Felix Bethel, and Eugene Bethel. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by six siblings: William Kent, Leon Kent, Howard Kent, Eugene Bethel, Monroe Kent, and Melvin Kent, and her step-father Sam Owens. Funeral Services will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church, 2411 Memorial Ave., Port Norris on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Haleyville Methodist Cemetery in Commercial Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
