Obituary of Robert William Rain

Robert William Rain Sr., 73, of Hopewell Twp. passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland. Born in Bridgeton to the late Merle S. Rain and Nancy Loper Rain, he had been a Cumberland County resident most of his life, living the last 15 years in Hopewell Twp, and prior to that he had lived in Pennsylvania. He had worked for Citizens Voice Newspaper Company as a manager for 15 years. Robert was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He had achieved the rank of Airman First Class. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, going to gun, boat, and fishing shows. He also enjoyed spending time on his son's boat. He was known to many as “Penn Reel Bob” on the Miss Fortescue and the Bonanza charter boats. He is survived by; his children, Kimberly Dailyda of Daretown, Robert W. Rain Jr. (Barbie) of Alloway Twp., and Robert Patrick Rain (Tami) of Vineland; his former wife, Candy Rain, whom he had lived and resided with for 15 years; four grandchildren, Shawn, Michael, Kathryn, and Bella; three great-grandchildren; five siblings, Susan Duffield (David) of FL, David “Neal” Rain of NJ, Martha Cunningham of PA, Jennifer Whitlock of VA, and MerleLynn Zislin of FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by; his parents, Merle and Nancy Rain; a sister, Donna Brunifaux; and his beloved Collie, Kendra. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 20th at 11AM at Fernwood Memorial Park, 794 Shiloh Pike, Hopewell Twp., NJ 08302.
