Obituary of Lillian Betty Osborne
Please share a memory of Lillian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lillian Betty Osborne went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 4, 2023. Lillian is survived by her daughter Marilyn Wilson, two grandchildren Dawn Vicari (David Vicari) and Donald Wilson, two great-granddaughters Amanda Orgeron (Jarid Orgeron) and Kristina Shaub (Christopher Shaub), two great-great grandchildren Charles and Elizabeth Orgeron and one nephew Charles Frasier.
Lillian was born on August 19, 1927, in Pennsville, New Jersey. Her first job was working at a soda fountain making sodas. During WWII she supported the home front efforts working at the DOD Facility in Pedricktown, NJ. There she de-primed shells that came back from the front. Lillian enjoyed dancing the jitterbug with her sister while sailing on the Wilson Line ship on Saturday evenings.
After WWII ended, Lillian married Charles H. Osborne on September 1, 1946. They moved to Quinton where they resided for seventy-five years. They had a beautiful baby girl in July of 1948. Lillian worked as a waitress, home laundry, and as a full-time employee in the Quinton school cafeteria. Lillian retired from the school after fifteen years of service.
Lillian enjoyed spending time with her family. She and her husband hosted many pig roasts, enjoyed traveling, watching westerns, knitting, needle point, going to breakfast with their daughter, and taking their grandkids and great grandkids out to lunch. Most importantly, Lillian loved her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Charles and Lillian accepted God’s gift of salvation in 1962. They attended Quinton Baptist Church for ten years. They felt the Lord’s direction moving them to First Baptist Church of Elmer where Lillian served as a Sunday School teacher for thirty-two years, went on visitation, and sang in the choir.
Lillian loved her family! Every time her grandkids, great-grandkids, and great-great grandkids came in the door her face lit up with joy. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to First Baptist Church of Elmer located at 209 Broadstreet Elmer, New Jersey in memory of Lillian Osborne.
Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Written condolences can be sent to the family through the funeral home website at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
