When I was little, I remember my Uncle Sydney having to duck when he went through doorways and thought he was the tallest man in the world. When I was at my lowest point in life, my Uncle Syd came to North Carolina with my dad and helped me move to Tennessee. He drove a U-Haul with a dog and a cat in the cab, and helped me move into my new home. He never failed to make me laugh when talking on the phone, he had such a unique sense of humor and fun way to look at the world. Still makes me laugh to think of him. He was a beautiful man and will he missed.

I met Syd about 10 years ago when I joined the SJRCS flying club. He made a point of making me feel welcomed. He took me on a tour of the three other local RC flying clubs and introduced me to members of those clubs who were flying that day. Two counties, and at least a couple of hours of Syd's time.
My fondest memory of Syd is when a club member flying a small glow airplane at the club field asked Syd if he wanted to fly the plane. Syd said "Sure, I'll take it easy." A couple of passes across the field and then at about 75 feet in the air Syd put the airplane through a rolling circle maneuver. I had no idea that was possible. It was flawless! May you rest in peace.

I was so lucky to have known Syd for many years. Syd and I met over 30 years ago when I was just a kid trying to learn about RC flying. He took a special interest in me because my Aunt was his English teacher in high school, and he conveyed many fond memories of those years. Syd was not only a fantastic pilot but he was an inspiration to many young pilots. He was a mentor and "knew everything about RC." He was a true supporter of the hobby both locally and nationally. I will miss you, Syd. You were the best. Rest in Peace, my friend.

As a child, I remember visiting Aunt Helen and Uncle Syd. Uncle Syd would always be tinkering with and flying his model planes.

My deepest condolences to his family & friends. I worked at Bay Sea Physical Therapy before they closed down, & saw Syd every morning as he would come in & work his program. He was very kind, very smart, and so funny. There were times he brought us coffee & treats for the office. He would tell his stories about planes & his life. I always thought about him from time to time wondering how he was doing. He made an everlasting impression on me. My thoughts & prayers are with the family.

I first met Syd in 1974 at the South Jersey Radio Control Society located at the old Seabrook crop dusting field. I soon joined the club and Syd taught me to fly an RCM Trainer 40. As my flying grew he taught me many things about RC airplanes but what I'll remember most is what he taught me away from the field. He was a truly great friend and will be missed. Regards, Jeff

Syd was a very good friend, who I did not see as often as I would have liked to. He was always a comfort if I had a problem, when I was younger. And I loved him like a Brother....Fly high, my dear friend, and some day we will meet again! I will always miss you.

My deepest condolences to the family. He was a great person, kind, funny & smart. When I worked at Bay Sea Physical Therapy (before it closed in, I believe 2017), I would see him every morning. He would sign in & chat for a few & then work out. There were times where he brought us coffee & treats. I am thankful to have met him & always prayed he was doing well, since the close of that business. My thoughts & prayers are with the family & friends.

Syd
A longtime friend teacher, and mentor a person who
was always there for me. Those road trips, redeye
flights to get to a new destination and R/C event.
We made the best of all the good times we shared even getting lost was a new experience.
Syd once said to me, take off was optional and landing mandatory, also running Fun Flys contest
together, even with our differences of opinions at the end of the day we were still best Friends. May you rest in peace until we meet again. God Bless!
