Obituary of Josephine Chiari

Josephine Chiari, 90, of Bridgeton passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at her home under the care of hospice and her family. Born in Kimball, West Virginia to the late Antonio Majestro and Maria Martella Majestro, Josephine was the wife of Joseph P. Chiari for 68 years. At the age of 19, Josephine was recruited to work for Owens-Illinois in Bridgeton, NJ from 1952 to 1956. She also worked for the Bridgeton Public Schools as a special needs aide from 1985 to 1998. The years in between those jobs she spent raising her family. She was a member of the Parish of the Holy Cross, Church of Immaculate Conception in Bridgeton. Josephine was very dedicated to raising her family and reinforcing the need for a good education. She instilled in her children the value of a good work ethic in order to achieve success. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, cooking delicious Italian dishes, baking, and casino trips with her husband. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling to Europe and other destinations with her husband, her siblings and their spouses. She also spent time socializing at the Senior Center in Upper Deerfield Township. She is survived by her husband, Joseph P. Chiari of Bridgeton; her children, Michael (Linda) Chiari of Warren, MI, Karen (Tim) Kelly of Sea Isle City, NJ, and Anthony Chiari (Jacqueline) of Galloway Township, NJ; her siblings, Tony Majestro, Margaret Cuomo and Carmella Cuomo; 10 grandchildren, Amanda, Caitlin, Cristin, Andrew, Rosie, Patsy, Brittany, Matthew, David and Christina; and three great-grandchildren, Jack, Maddie and Lilly. Josephine is predeceased by her parents, Antonio and Maria Majestro; her daughter Joann C. Cervini; her granddaughter, Ashley Marie Chiari and her two sisters, Nancy and Natalie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, October 10th, at the Parish of the Holy Cross Church of the Immaculate Conception , 312 N. Pearl St., Bridgeton,. Internment will take place at Overlook Cemetery, 100 Overlook Drive, Bridgeton, following Mass. Friends will be received at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. from 9:30AM to 10:30AM prior to Mass.
