Obituary of Charlotte C. Pugh

Charlotte C. Pugh, 91, of Alloway Township passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Pitman Manor. The daughter of the late Frank H. Cobb and Della Shute Cobb, she was born in Canton and was the wife of the late Francis “Kelly” Pugh, Jr. She was raised in Shiloh until 1954 when she moved to her farmhouse in Alloway where she had resided since 1964. She then moved to Cobbs Mill Rd. in 1964 where she resided until moving to Pitman Manor. She and her late husband, Kelly were married in 1952. Charlotte had been employed as a Nurses Aide with Salem Home Care until her retirement at age 63. She had also previously worked at Cumberland Manor in Hopewell Township for 5 years. Charlotte loved her family and always enjoyed her Sunday dinners with them including her famous homemade bread and vegetable soup, always ready in a full 12 quart pot. She enjoyed puzzle books, reading ladies magazines, ME TV, black and white shows and westerns including Gun Smoke. She was an avid traveler and also enjoyed trips to the Steel Pier in Atlantic City for shows there and playing games with family members. Surviving are her children, Kathleen Roberts (Tom) of Alloway Township, Erin Brand of East Greenville, PA and Colleen Tarantella (Michael) of Oak Valley; grandchildren, Kallie Roberts, Amanda Boyce (Jim) and Ryan Pugh and her great-grandchildren, Aidan and Jake. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sons, Kelly, III “Jake” and Michael. Graveside funeral services will be held at the Salem County Veterans Cemetery, 719 State Highway 45, Pilesgrove on Wednesday, November 8th at 1:00 PM where the interment will follow the services. Arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Township. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions in Charlotte’s memory be made to either the United Methodist Communities at Pitman or to an Animal Humane Society of one’s choice.
