Obituary of Rowena Wilcox

Rowena Wilcox, 81, of Bridgeton, NJ, was born October 3rd, 1942 in Jacksonville, Georgia to the late Sylvester Wilcox and Pearl McKenzie. Rowena departed this life quietly and peacefully at her home on November 14, 2023. In November 2010, Mother Rowena joined the New Macedonia St. John's Community Evangelistic Church under Reverend Curtis Jerkins and started working in St. John's Food pantry, she became the a member, Usher & “Mother of the church”. Mother Rowena volunteered to help with collections and anything that the church needed. In all her years as a member Rowena nnly missed two days in 13 years! She will be genuinely be missed & forever in our hearts. She leaves behind; her brother, Frank James of Jacksonville, Georgia; her seven children: Marsha Wilcox (Darren Murphy), Mary Brown (Earnest James), Rebecca Pruitt, Nathaniel Wilcox, all of Bridgeton, NJ, and Silvia Wilcox of Jersey City; eight grandchildren, Michael Wilcox, Iris Wilcox, Rakeem Pruitt, Hikeem Pruitt, Isiah Brown, John James, Krishauna James, and Nakita; eight great grandchildren; Monica, Jasmine, Ni’keem, Niyana, Milleena, Deyani, Jahki, and Serenity, all of Bridgeton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at the New Macedonia St. John's Community Evangelistic Church, 362 Colfax St. Bridgeton, on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 11 AM. Friends will be received at the church from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Overlook Cemetery, 100 Overlook Dr. Bridgeton following the services.
