This is the eulogy I wrote and read at moms funeral .
Hello, good afternoon,
I would like to take you all on an adventure.. today, an adventure across time and space.. this will not be your typical eulogy.. but instead a remembrance of someone, someone special who saved a lot of people.
But first some background.. there is a show, one of the oldest longest running science fiction tv shows, called dr who.. the main character is called the doctor.. the dr can be male, or female, black or white , live for 40 years or 1000 years.. he or she lives adventures and at the end of those adventures regenerates into a new incarnation and lives again for a new adventure, Usually, by this persons side he or she has a companion or companion's.. and travels in a Time Machine called a tardis
Ok enough background. I want to welcome you all, we will call you for arguments sake "team Dora". And for this scenario we, you , me are the companions to our main character, Dora Turpin, again for arguments sake let’s call her the doctor.. and we’re going to jump in our Time Machine..
See the doctor fixes things, listens and goes through time and space and helps others, for no other reason. Then that’s just the person she is..
Now we’re going to go backwards in time for our little adventure. Again by jumping in our make believe Time Machine.. but first..
Let’s stay in the present just for a minute.. It’s December 2023, Dora had her best December ever, she went out with friends, saw new Christmas lights, saw various shows, had tons of family fun and played and watched her grandson Matty and spoiled him like no other.. she had so much fun with her companions.
Let’s go further back, it’s 2014 her breast cancer came back, her companions, team Dora got her through.. she beat it..
Let’s go further back..
It’s 1990. Breast cancer for the first time, team Dora got her through.. she beat it
Let’s go further back, it’s 1980, she defeats An acoustic neuroma brain tumor, her companions team Dora got her through.
Let’s jump back in our Time Machine and go forward in time now, we’re back to this moment in time right now.. December 2023.. how many times, has my mom Dora Turpin saved so many of us, usually by listening , offering advice and just being there for all,of us.. the best friend one could ask for, the best mom one could ask for the best granny one could ask for.. there was no one like her, there never will be anyone like her.. my mom is our doctor, in this scenario, our little adventure..
Now please remember right now, this is the moment no one saw coming the shock ending to our tv episode and adventure, we are all team Dora. We all have been since the day she was born.. and she was our doctor.. saving us and fixing us all.

I worked with Dora for many years at Indian Avenue School...you could ALWAYS count on a smile from her (even when things were a little "tense" in the office...(the old Indian Avenue staff will know what I mean-LOL)...she had a way of making comments under her breath that was hysterical...when my mother passed away, Dora figured out a way to combine my bereavement days and sick days so I had the time to properly grieve...she was one of the bravest people I know...she always showed optimism even in the middle of her most serious medical issues...I have thought of her often in the years since I retired...she was an amazing light in this crazy world...sending prayers and many happy memories to her family.

Condolences to the Turpin Families,
Dorie was a character and a good friend who knew her.
Never a stranger and shopper at JCP downtown
When Joe was on the force he was in the store when he patrolled downtown area years ago
They were good friends with my friends Audrey and Henry Smith. Joe and Henry worked on the force together
Connected her with Dr Schmlzer
Many good stories she told and most famous she and Joe were at Sears looking at treadmills and Dorie had to try one out and started it up and it was set faster than she could keep up with and called for Joe to stop the machine as she was holding on for dear life.
Dorie will be missed
Rest In Peace my friend

Dora and I carpooled to Prudential in the early days. She had such a great sense of humor. I was glad to catch up with her again when she came to work for the Bridgeton Board of Education. She will be missed.
