Obituary of Barbara Ann Shimp

Barbara Ann “Babs” Shimp, 81, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023 at Spring Oak Assisted Living in Vineland where she had been a resident for the past five months. Born in Bridgeton and a lifetime Bridgeton area resident, she was the daughter of the late Romeo Rabbai and Margaret George Rabbai and was the wife of the late Norman E. Shimp. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed with the Cafeteria Department at Cumberland Regional High School for over 10 years. She enjoyed working at several occupations during her life because they afforded her the opportunity to meet and greet people and to stay in touch with her family and friends. Barbara was a member of the Parish of the Holy Cross and had attended both Immaculate Conception Church and St. Teresa of Avila Church in Bridgeton. She loved crocheting, dancing and always enjoyed just getting out and being with her family and friends. Surviving are her sons, Cosmo F. Terrigno (Beatrice) of Upper Deerfield Township and Phillip Terrigno of Philadelphia, PA; her step children, Vicki Cook (Randy) of SC, Karen Lizarzaburu (Pete) of DE and Kevin Shimp (Gigi) of FL; her sister, Diane Rabbai of FL; two grandchildren, Dr.Vittorio R. Terrigno (Dr.Katrina Terrigno) of Long Island, NY and Isabella M. Terrigno of Hopewell Township and a great-grandson, Romeo Terrigno. She is also survived by nieces; Nikki Rondi (Tony) and Racquel; Great Nieces, Mia and Toni, all of Florida, as well as several cousins. She was predeceased by her infant son, Robert Terrigno. Her Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at the Parish of the Holy Cross – Immaculate Conception Church, 312 North Pearl Street, Bridgeton on Friday, December 22nd at 1:00 PM. Visitation will take place from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bridgeton. Because of her love for children, in lieu of flowers, the family asks contributions be made in Barbara’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
