Obituary of Valrie Sorrell

Valrie Sorrell, 95, of Hopewell Twp. passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Preferred Care at Cumberland Manor. Born in Ogeechee, GA to the late Frank and Nellie Robbins, she had been the wife of the late John W. Lipsey and James A. Sorrell Sr. She was born and raised in Georgia and had been a resident of Cumberland County since 1975, prior to that she had resided in Salem County. Valrie had been a member of Bethlehem Revival Temple in Bridgeton for 40 years. Going to church and serving the Lord was the most important thing in her life. She passed out Gospel Church Tracts as she felt it was a part of her calling in ministering to others. In her free time she enjoyed singing, playing many different instruments, cooking, especially her biscuits and cabbage. Valrie had a love for all people and was friendly to everyone she met. She is survived by; her children, Veator Lipsey of Salem, Vanessa Lipsey of Savannah, GA, Mimia Sorrell of Millville, and James A. Sorrell, Jr.; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by; her husbands, John W. Lipsey and James A. Sorrell Sr.; her children, Harry Lipsey, James Lipsey, Raymond Lipsey, Estella Lipsey, and John Lipsey; and her siblings, Claudia, Roselt, and Johnson. Funeral Services will be held at Bethlehem Revival Temple, 37 South Ave., Bridgeton, on Friday, January 12th at 11AM. Friends will be received at the church from 10AM to 11AM prior to the service.
