Obituary of Dorothy B. Hitchner

Dorothy B. Hitchner, 95, of Cohansey, NJ went home to be with the Lord, January 7th 2024 with family by her side. Born in Bridgeton, the daughter of the late, Kenneth and Florence Budd. She was the wife of the late Donald Hitchner Sr. She had lived in Alloway Township most of her life on their family farm. She spent the last two years living with her grandson, BJ and his family and her beloved dog Brittany. Throughout Dorothy's life, she worked as a switchboard operator at Bell Telephone, in the office for Seabrook Farms and as a housewife on their family farm along with taking care of their six children. Over the years, you could find Dorothy catching the bus at the Country Kitchen restaurant headed down to the casinos. More recently she would be enjoyed going out to play bingo with her close friends and family. Every Sunday you could always count on seeing her and her son Bob at .40 Diner talking with the Sunday morning crew. She cherished all the friendships she made over the years. Dorothy loved hosting her family for picnics in the summer and dinners during the holidays. Dorothy is survived by her five children and their spouses along with her daughter-in-law, Judy (late Donny "Bear"), Kenneth (Judi), Scott (Karen), Kay (Patrick "PG"), Barry (Rhonda) and Robert "Bob"; 12 grandchildren, Ken Jr. (Rossy), Kathy (Greg), Tammy (Jeri), Barry Jr. (Courtney), Jeffrey (Tracy), Stacey (John), Mary (Geoff), Shannon (Keith), Scott Jr. (Felicia), Josh (Kate), Taylor (Billy), and Laine; and 17 great grandchildren, Hailey-Michele (Austin), Bradley (AubrieJo), Hannah, Arabella, Grace, Alivia, Emma, Maddox, Benjamin, Aedan, Matthew, Mikayla, Liam, Abel, Freya, Ryker and Tripp. Dorothy is predeceased by; her husband, Donald Sr.; her son, Donald "Bear" Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Michele. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 13th at 9:30AM at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 8 AM to 9:30 AM prior to the services. Interment will be at Emmanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, 366 Cohansey Friesburg Rd., Alloway Township following services.
