Obituary of Leon Jackson Jr.

On Saturday, January 20th 2024, God with his infinite wisdom, saw fit to whisper into Leon’s ear, “Son it’s time to come home.” Leon was born in Vineland NJ on February 13th, 1971, to Leon Jackson, Sr. and the late Betty Kemp Thomas. Affectionately known as Fatman, he grew up in Norma, NJ and later attended Vineland Public Schools. Leon was a jack of all trades, but his greatest passion was being a truck driver, he loved his truck dearly. He was employed by Zuckerman Produce, United Van Lines and Millville Trucking before being blessed with his own company. Fats Trucking LLC. was Leon’s greatest accomplishment. His second passion was mechanic work as he could fix anything. Leon loved music, barbecuing, playing horseshoes and pool. Most of all, he loved spending time with his devoted wife and loving children. Anyone who knew him, loved his laugh and his billion-dollar smile. Leon was predeceased by his mother Betty Lou Thomas (Kemp), and his brother Phillip Kemp. Leon leaves his legacy to his unwavering wife of thirty-one years Nema Jackson, and his three children, Tanazia Jackson of Millville NJ, Shaleka Jackson stationed in Maryland, and Leon Jackson III of Millville, NJ. Leon leaves behind his father Leon Jackson, Sr. of Vineland NJ and his father and mother-in-law Jerome and Debby Langley of Millville NJ. Leon leaves four sisters Lois “Sis” (Ron) Carroll of Landisville NJ, Cynthia “Cindy” Myrick of North Jersey, Sheila “Bean” (Edward) Wilson of Bridgeton NJ, and Sylvia “Underground” (Wilfredo) Rodriguez of Vineland NJ. Leon leaves three brother-in-laws, Ronshon Bowser of Millville NJ, J’rome (Erica) Bowser of Gaffney, SC, and Timothy (Vicky) Bowser of Blackwood, NJ. Leon also leaves one sister-in-law Saundra (William) West of Vineland NJ and a Godson Jaxon Profit of Millville NJ. Leon leaves behind his only grandson he affectionately called “Papi” Saint Lee Jackson. Saint loved and adored his pop-pop Leon, and his pop-pop loved and adored him. Saint was the light of his life. Saint knew his pop-pop would buy him anything and everything. Saint would bully his pop-pop to change whatever he was watching on tv to (Elmo and Tango Mysterious Mysteries.) Saint’s mother Tanazia will continuously instill lessons and values that were passed down by her father and she will always remind Saint that he had the best pop-pop Ever! Leon leaves behind a host of uncles, aunts, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews. -Lovingly Submitted by the family. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 29th at 11AM at In His Image Evangelical Ministries, 335 Gouldtown Woodruff Rd., Bridgeton. Friends will be received at the church from 9AM to 11AM prior to the services, Interment will take place at Overlook Cemetery, 100 Overlook Drive, Bridgeton.
