Obituary of Macie M. Burgess Davis

Macie M. Burgess Davis, 86, of Lawrence Twp. passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at her home under the care of her loving family and hospice. Born in Dante, VA to the late Omer R. Pippin and Ruth Lucille Ramsey Pippin, she had been the wife of the late Charles “Bud”Burgess and Charles T. Davis. Macie had moved to the Bridgeton area at the age of 17 and had resided in Dennisville for 25 years prior to her settling in Lawrence Twp. She had previously been employed at Owens-Illonois in Bridgeton, Wheaton Glass in Millville, as a home health aide and as a Certified Nurses Assistant at the Cumberland Manor in Hopewell Twp. In here younger years, Macie enjoyed gardening, tending to her fruit trees, refurbishing furniture, and attending horse races. She was fond of baking and cooking and was known for her Mexican Meatloaf which could not be matched. She also made delicious fudge and cornbread which her family will miss. Her greatest love was for her family and loved ones whom she cherished dearly. She is survived by; her daughter, Robin Burgess of Lawrence Twp.; her grandchildren; Renae Forman, her husband Bruce, who was like a grandson to her, and Amanda Bermudez (Orlando) all of Lawrence Twp.; her great grandchildren, Laynie and Qwan-Lee; her siblings, Sue Cochran of Mobile, AL, Betty Jessee of Castlewood, VA, Doris Powell of Jacksonville, SC, and Omer “Ronnie” Pippin Jr. of Mobile, AL; her long time friend, Michelle Crowe, who was like a daughter to her; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Macie is going home to join her daughter, Tammy; her sisters, Brenda, Louise and Gail, and her Mamma and Daddy, who were waiting for her with open arms. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 1st at 11 AM at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 AM to 11AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Centerton Freewill Baptist Cemetery in Pittsgrove Twp. following the service.
